Oortcloud’s team packs experience and success

Mark Butterfield

CEO

Mark started his technology career in the early 1980s and has performed many different roles from software development and support to project and program management. In 2005, Mark was appointed to the executive committee as the European CIO of Nomura International PLC, where he successfully led, reshaped and dramatically improved the efficiency of the team. This subsequently saw him appointed as the Global Wholesale CIO of Nomura Securities Group in 2012, through to 2021.

Mark has a proven and distinguished track record of building and delivering leading edge technology solutions, managing multiple complex technology integrations. As well as driving significant efficiency improvements across technology and business functions by leveraging innovative concepts, advanced technologies and organisational efficiencies to dramatically optimise business operating models.

In 2021, having initiated and delivered a major digital transformation program, Mark chose to step away from his corporate role and formed Oortcloud, his own specialist Technology services business, focused on using his knowledge and experience to help other businesses adopt new solutions and innovations.

Gerry Buggy

Strategic Advisor

Gerry’s illustrious career in technology started in the early 1980s and has been a driving force in the industry for over two decades. Performing a multitude of roles across the technology industry, specialising in real-time enterprise software and data architectures.

Gerry is currently serving as a Co-Founder of Ocular Technologies, a Founding Investor of Form3, a Chairman of Privitar, an Executive of Kx Systems, and an Executive of First Derivatives.

With his vast experience both on a corporate and technological level, coupled with his entrepreneurial instincts in this industry, Gerry’s distinguished career will be an invaluable asset to the Oortcloud leadership team to help move us forward.

Devesh Mehta

Strategic Advisor

Devesh started at Deloitte & Touche, before going on to join Nomura’s finance function holding many senior positions including EMEA controller, EMEA CFO & EMEA CAO as well as Head of Risk & Finance Change.

He was a board director of the European Holding Company as well as the UK Bank entity. He moved to Grant Thornton where, as a Financial Services Consulting Partner, he successfully led the flagship Business Risk Services team before going on to Co-Head all of Grant Thornton’s Financial Services Advisory Practices. Devesh founded Levrara Consulting in January 2018 and has served as its CEO for the past four years. Using his corporate and entrepreneurial experience we are glad to have him on board as a strategic advisor to the board of Oortcloud.

Nick Caine

Technology Architect

Nick has had a long career in the financial markets as a thought leader and pioneer of new technology adoption transforming legacy business operations. He has performed many roles from front office real-time trading/risk systems development and senior management to chief technical architect and CTO.

Nick has deep experience working with the global Trading, Investment Banking and Operations depts for Swiss Bank, Nomura, UBS, RBS, TP/ICAP, HSBC and Nomura International.

He is based in the UK, has lived in Switzerland and Japan and managed teams in NYC, Chicago, London, Paris, Singapore, HK, Tokyo and Sydney. Most recently Nick lead the Chief Architecture function at Nomura in Tokyo defining and overseeing the cloud strategy and approach to digital transformation of Nomura’s wholesale and group technology.

Tom Kozlowski

Strategy & Business Development Advisor

Tom Kozlowski is an angel investor, board member and advisor. Specialising mainly in the finance, technology and renewables sectors, investing in innovation, disruption and efficiency.

Tom is chairman and founding investor in form3, a faster payments technology. Founding investor in Privitar, a data anonymisation technology. Advisor and investor in Tech Passport, a FinTech accelerator platform. Chair and main shareholder of a “waste to energy” business

Tom brings real world experience and insight from startup through expansion and business development with several successful first hand case studies. A number of these have been successfully sold, with significant returns to shareholders and executives
